Synergistic effect of sunlight induced photothermal conversion and H2O2 release based on hybridized tungsten oxide gel for cancer inhibition

چکیده
A highly efficient photochromic hydrogel was successfully fabricated via casting precursor, which is based on amorphous tungsten oxide and poly (ethylene oxide)-block-poly (propylene oxide)-block-poly (ethylene oxide). Under simulated solar illumination, the hydrogel has a rapid and controlled temperature increasing ratio as its coloration degree. Localized electrons in the amorphous tungsten oxide play a vital role in absorption over a broad range of wavelengths from 400 nm to 1100 nm, encompassing the entire visible light and infrared regions in the solar spectrum. More importantly, the material exhibits sustainable released H2O2 induced by localized electrons, which has a synergistic effect with the rapid surface temperature increase. The amount of H2O2 released by each film can be tuned by the light irradiation, and the film coloration can indicate the degree of oxidative stress. The ability of the H2O2-releasing gels in vitro study was investigated to induce apoptosis in melanoma tumor cells and NIH 3T3 fibroblasts. The in vivo experimental results indicate that these gels have a greater healing effect than the control in the early stages of tumor formation.

Synthesis of new biodegradable nanocarriers for SN38 delivery and synergistic phototherapy
Objective (s): SN38 is the prominent and effective anticancer drug for treating various types of human cancers such as colorectal, ovarian and lung cancers. SN38 is highly toxic, and due to its poor solubility in aqueous media, and low stability and hydrolysis at physiological pH, it has not been used as an anti-cancer drug. To overcome these problems, SN38 was conjugated with new nanocarriers ...
متن کاملHighly Efficient Near Infrared Photothermal Conversion Properties of Reduced Tungsten Oxide/Polyurethane Nanocomposites
In this work, novel WO3-x/polyurethane (PU) nanocomposites were prepared by ball milling followed by stirring using a planetary mixer/de-aerator. The effects of phase transformation (WO₃ → WO2.8 → WO2.72) and different weight fractions of tungsten oxide on the optical performance, photothermal conversion, and thermal properties of the prepared nanocomposites were examined. It was found that the...
متن کاملArtesunate-modified nano-graphene oxide for chemo-photothermal cancer therapy
Poor water-solubility of artesunate (ARS) hampers its clinical application. We here covalently linked ARS to PEGylated nanographene oxide (nGO-PEG) to obtain ARS-modified nGO-PEG (nGO-PEG-ARS) with excellent photothermal effect and dispersibility in physiological environment. nGO-PEG-ARS induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and peroxynitrite (ONOO─) generations. Although nGO-PEG with near-infr...
متن کاملIn vivo evaluation of the combination effect of near- infrared laser and PLGA polymer containing 5- fluorouracil – loaded Nano-graphene oxide
Introduction: Recently, nanographene oxide (NGO) is proven to be as a great candidate for drug delivery, and phototherapies cancer. Photothermal sensitivity of NGO and its optical absorption in the NIR region lead to photothermal ablation of tumors. Nevertheless, the major drawback of GO is its toxicity in biological systems, To overcome this problem, nanoscale GO prepare with...
متن کاملTungsten Oxide Nanorods: An Efficient Nanoplatform for Tumor CT Imaging and Photothermal Therapy
We report here a facile thermal decomposition approach to creating tungsten oxide nanorods (WO2.9 NRs) with a length of 13.1 ± 3.6 nm and a diameter of 4.4 ± 1.5 nm for tumor theranostic applications. The formed WO2.9 NRs were modified with methoxypoly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) carboxyl acid via ligand exchange to have good water dispersability and biocompatibility. With the high photothermal conv...
